
Beijing Commune
Beijing Commune was established in 2004, and the first exhibition opened in 2005 in Caochangdi. In 2006, the gallery moved to Beijing 798 Art District where it is currently located. Since its inception, the Beijing Commune has been responsible for explaining and promoting the development of contemporary Chinese art. Representative artists of Chinese contemporary art such as Zhang Xiaogang, Yue Minjun, Song Dong, Yin Xiuzhen, Hong Hao, and Liu Jianhua have all held so important personal exhibitions of their artistic careers in the Beijing Commune. The gallery has always maintained a keen observation and active participation in the new changes in contemporary art. With the input of fresh blood in recent years, Beijing Commune has become an important space for young artists to discuss new issues. The new generation of artists represented by the gallery such as Fan Shuru, Hu Xiaoyuan, Liang Shuo, Liang Yuanwei, Lu Yang, Ma Qiusha, Shang Yixin, Song Tuo, Wang Guangle, Xie Moling, Yang Xinguang, Yu Ji, Zhao Yao, and others are spreading in China.
