Formerly The Fine Art Resource, an art dealership established by Usha Mirchandani in the mid-eighties in Mumbai, and a space for modern and contemporary Indian art run by her daughter Ranjana Steinruecke from 1997 to 2003 in Berlin, the gallery has presented exhibitions by leading artists including Bhupen Khakhar, Jogen Chowdhury, Atul Dodiya, and S.H. Raza. They have also curated institutional exhibitions at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin.
Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke was established in Mumbai in 2006. It is highly regarded for the young artists it has nurtured since, and the exceptional quality of its program and exhibitions. The gallery represents important and established artists such as Give Patel and C.K. Rajan, and several of the most talented new positions to have emerged over the last decade, such as Sosa Joseph, Abir Karmakar, Manish Nai, Ratheesh T., Siji Krishnan, And Tanya Goel. The prominence of these artists has grown significantly in recent years through participation in international biennales and acquisitions by important private collectors and museums.
